Abstract
The water quality in the two main basins of Lake Vänern is quite stable over time. The levels of nutrients and organic material in the water have been fairly stable during recent years. In general, the chlorophyll levels are quite low, but the concentrations often have a considerable intra-annual variation. The Secchi disc depth has been rather constant lately, essentially varying with the water colour and the amount of phytoplankton in the water.
