Abstract
The weather in the Lake Vänern area has in recent years been characterized by large variability both between different months and between different parts of the area, and the weather in 2024 was no exception. Overall, the rainfall was higher than normal, but with large differences during the year with a record warm and dry May which was then replaced by a wet period during the rest of the summer. The water level was basically higher than normal throughout the year. Only during January and November-December was the water level lower than or close to normal. The solar irradiation highly variable over the year, with a start of the year that was poor in sunshine that changed to a sunny May, whereas July was notably poor in sunshine.
