Trålundersökning av fisk i Västerhavet: International Bottom Trawl Survey (IBTS) 2026 kvartal 1

The IBTS survey is conducted twice annually, in quarters 1 and 3 and covers the Skagerrak, the
Kattegat and a small part of the eastern North Sea.
The bottom trawl Grande Ouverture Verticale (GOV) is used for the daytime fishing. During
this survey 48 valid hauls were towed using the GOV-trawl, 5 in the North Sea, 24 in the Skagerrak
and 19 in the Kattegat. The total catch amounted to 20,3 tonnes (about 60 % being clupeids) and
comprised 73 species of fish. Biological sampling was carried out on the most important commercial
species including otoliths taken for age analysis. In total 4028 otoliths were collected from 10
different species. For the target species, preliminary indices of the one-year group and are shown in
the report.
During nights, 56 valid larvae trawl hauls were conducted and included catches of 205 herring
larvae, 25 sardine larvae and 38 eel larvae.
