    Abstract

The project had three parts: Fertilization experiments on two fields, investigating the effect of P, K and reed canary grass ash. On soil that is not very low in P and K, fertilization with these nutrients after the first years is probably not necessary for the growth of the reed canary grass. To avoid soil depletion of P and K in the long run reed canary grass ash could be recirculated to the fields. Investigation of insect and fungal pests in reed canary grass. Fields were investigated in Västerbotten, Norrbotten, Småland och Värmland. The gall midge Epicalamus phalaridis and also aphids were found in south Västerbotten, in 2012. The fungus, Ceratorhiza rhizodes was found in northern Västerbotten and Norrbotten. Experiment with different soil tillage methods for reestablishing of reed canary grass on weedy fields. Glyphosate treatment in spring followed by conventional tilling and harrowing was most effective against couch grass but none of the methods gave satisfying results.
