Abstract
The weather in the Vänern area was characterised in 2021 by large variations in precipitationboth in between different months but also within different parts of the catchment area. Especially the southern part of the catchment showed particularly high variability, whereas the northern part was drier. In general, the average temperatures were lower than normal in the beginning and at the end of the year, whereas in June and July the temperature was higher than normal. The water level in Lake Vänern was at a rather normal level in the beginning of the year, but from Mayand onwards the level dropped somewhat below the normal level.
