    Abstract

    This chapter discusses the behavioural disorders (stereotypies, cannibalism, and abnormal aggression); stress (predictability and controllability as key concepts in stress response, individual differences in stress reactions, and behavioural and physiological phenomenon of stress); animal welfare (assessing animal welfare, health and production as indicators of animal welfare, physiological indicators of welfare, behavioural indicators of welfare, comparison with normal behaviour, experimental studies of behaviour as welfare indicators, and positive welfare indicators) in domestic animals.
